Our Mission

“I believe, truly, that if you look deeply enough into anything, you find the world”. - Yo Yo Ma

Here at Literary Music Series, we aim to bring intimate and thought provoking experiences to our audiences through the intertwining of music and poetry. Once a month (online and in person) you will find artists from across the globe sharing what literature and music means the most to them.

Literary music series was founded in 2020 at the height of the pandemic, created as a way to reach international audiences through poetry and music in the comfort of audiences’ living rooms. The “Pandemic Season” episodes can be enjoyed on our YouTube channel (linked as “Past shows” above). We now have gone on to produce live concerts, and our own podcast.

As a musician, writer, and poet myself, I find that poetry and music are two sides of the same coin. They are naturally intertwined with one another; in music you find poetry and in poetry you find music. In my own life I find connections between the two everywhere every day.

My thought in bringing poetry and music together was to provoke a different perspective on each, to see each art form in a different and unique light. How do we listen to a piece of music differently after reading a love sonnet or a tragic ballade? How do we understand the meaning of a poem after listening to a Bach fugue or a Brahms symphony? These are the questions we’re interested in exploring.

Welcome to Literary Music Series.
